In the offshore industry, the driven pile design methodology has been formalised in well-established standards for decades. However, the most recent editions of these do highlight the shortcomings of the well-established API method. Additional research has come up with more reliable methods or methods calibrated to very specific soil methods.
It’s the geotechnical engineer’s task to select the most appropriate method(s) for each design situation. The OPILE software, developed by Cathie Associates for axial, lateral pile capacity assessment, foundation response analysis and driveability verification, has been specifically designed to assist the geotechnical engineer in the design process.
OPILE allows for the quick evaluation and comparison of many different methods allowing the engineer to select the most appropriate. During the webinar the basic steps and good practices in offshore pile design will be covered, accompanied with practical examples illustrating how this can be effectively executed in OPILE.
During this webinar you will learn:
- Introduction to pile design
- Overview of pile design methods
- Best practices and pile design
- Illustration how OPILE assists the geotechnical engineer in the design process
